Every time I start up Dust I only do it because of a single thing: Because I want to cap out so I have enough SP to use Protogear when actual content is released for the game. At the moment it seems like the majority of players is not satisfied with the game and it's understandable why. You told us your 5 year plan. And you know what? What you want to do in the next 5 years is what I expected the game will be at its release. But what you released was merely another betaphase and by far no finished game.
And what have we got in terms of interaction with Eve so far? We got Orbital strikes which are barely worth anything because you always have the possibility to use a Precision strike from a warbarge. Yeah. Great. And why should Eve players risk their asses in war territory if we can get orbitals without their help anyways? Because a kindly different orbital is not really a reason. The other thing we got is Faction Warfare where we can push a modificator around. So still nothing Eve players can't do without us.
And because of this I want to advice you: Be bold. Break the game if necessary, because as it stands now you will lose your player base. We didn't come to Dust because of its great shooter gameplay, we came because we were told we can influence the Eve universe. So why don't you give us the possibility to do this? Just try out how things wold work if Dusties could do things which Eve players can't do without them. Like conquering or removing PIs for example. Just try out in Molden Heath what would happen if we can shoot at Eve players with planetary installations. Give us what you promised us. The Eve fanbase will probably forgive you trying things, especially if you just do it in a single region, out because Eve Online is a niche game. But the Dusties will run away if you don't do something fast. And fast does not mean something like "Maybe you can trade with Eve players starting WInter 2014" If you want people continue playing Dust give them something they can't have anywhere else. Give them something where they recognize how they influence the Universe. This is what you alwys promised us is so unique about Dust. I for one would care less about broken gameplay like Murder Taxis and laggy controls if I had at least fun game modes to play and If I could, at the end of a match, say "Hell yeah. I influenced Eve Online!"
Of course many things won't go smoothly, but how long do you want to keep us waiting? You're dealing with an impatient shooter fanbase here which buys a new CoD every year. And you really expect to keep them around for 5 years if the only thing you do at the moment is bringing new Store updates and some minor changes which should have been included in the release version anyways? I mean seriously: We can only play on what? Maybe 5 maps or so at the moment? With the release of Dust 514 you decided that the game is finished so far. If you actually wanted to work on the balancing and performance and so on you should have made the beta phase of the game longer. That's what it's there for, isn't it? |
